Speaking after PSG's most recent friendly against the Urawa Reds, which had Keylor Navas as the starting goalkeeper, coach Galtier revealed that his first choice to defend PSG's net will not be the Costa Rican ace, with "Gigi" Donnarumma being granted the No.1 spot.
"Keylor has made some key saves today. He works like one of the best, but I was pretty clear with all goalkeepers before we started. I don't want to rotate this season, and the team will work with a first-choice goalkeeper and a backup shot-stopper," Galtier stated.
The French tactician went on about his decision by admitting he can understand any hard feelings from the Costa Rican player, but he believes that the team's best interest would be to define everyone's role before the start of the season.
"He knows what I want from him as a sub. I know that deep down he's quite frustrated, but it is good for a club such as PSG to have two top goalkeepers," the coach added.
Earlier this month, reports coming in from France revealed that Galtier had urged Navas' agents to search for another club for him to be the first-choice goalkeeper. Nevertheless, the player's wages (over 12 million euros per season) make such a move a bit complicated.
The 35-year-old goalie has been linked with a move back to La Liga, where Sevilla has shown some interest in his services. Additionally, Serie A clubs such as Juventus and Napoli have been named as potential suitors for the former Real Madrid ace, although there have not been any concrete offers for his services.
