The Polish striker spoke his truth about the tug of war between the club and himself that ended with his move to Barcelona weeks ago.

Even though things went the way Robert Lewandowski wanted, the footballer decided to try and set the record straight regarding his exit from Bayern München and the events that led to his departure.

According to the player's words in an interview with ESPN, the footballer revealed that the whole truth was not told by Bayern execs prior to his exit, which has led some fans to label him as the "bad guy" for leaving the Bavarian side.

Although he did not mention any names Lewandowski's first statement had to do with the rumor about him getting angry over the team's alleged pursuit of Erling Haaland before offering him a contract extension.

"My decision to leave had nothing to do with that. Some of the people within the squad did not tell me the truth on some stuf and it was always very important for me to be straightforward. That was the problem. In the end things did not work out with me and I saw it was time for me to leave Bayern and to join Barcelona,"Lewandowski stated in the interview.

The player did hint that he did not have the best relationship with some members of the team's front office, as he did not mention them in his thankful words to the club.

"I have a great relationship with my teammates, the staff, and with the coach. I will miss them all because we went through thick and thin together. We were not just teammates, we were friends off the pitch," the player added.

Lewandowski went on about this with the general idea that the club was not qualified to deal with his departure, which resulted in unnecessary statements from both parties and caused fans to pin the blame on him for his desire to leave.

"Everything that happened in the final weeks was filled with politics. The club tried to find the arguments to sell me to another club. Maybe fans and I had to accept that, although there was a lot of nonsense and fake news written about me," Lewandowski added.

The player then went on to share how his first moments with Los Culés have gone, naming Xavi as a key influence to how he has related to his new teammates.

"It has been simpler with my experience. Xavi has been quite helpful, we have no communication problems. Even with my teammates, I have bonded with those who have gotten close to me trying to help out," the footballer concluded.
