The Reds could be without another key player this Monday when the Eagles visit Anfield.

Liverpool's Premier League campaign did not get off to the best of starts last weekend, with the English giants failing to secure the three points in their opening game against Fulham.

Klopp's men visited Craven Cottage and endured a rough first half against the newly-promoted side, going 1-0 down. Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah scored in the second half, but those goals were only enough to earn the visitors a point, drawing 2-2 with Marco Silva's men.

Jurgen had a number of key players out for that game due to injuries, with Naby Keita, Ibrahima Konate, Curtis Jones, Kostas Tsimikas, Diogo Jota, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Caoimhin Kelleher all being unfit for that away fixture.

Additionally, during the 90 minutes, Thiago Alcantara suffered a worrying hamstring injury that will keep the Spanish superstar out for at least a month. And to make things worse, another key player has picked up an issue in the build-up to Monday's showdown with the Eagles.

That man is none other than Joel Matip. As per Liverpool Echo, the Cameroonian center-back was withdrawn from Friday's training session due to a groin issue, but this was a pre-cautionary move, meaning all hope is not lost yet.

The 31-year-old has thus not been ruled out for Matchweek 2 so far. Nonetheless, with Konate already being sidelined, Klopp will be praying this is only a minor issue. In Matip's possible absence, Joe Gomez will all but deputize alongside Virgil van Dijk.
