The relationship between the two players has apparently deteriorated and could have dire consequences on the French club.

Paris Saint-Germain's dressing room is reportedly on the brink of dividing after another feud broke out between Neymar Jr and Kylian Mbappe. Over the weekend, the uneasiness surrounding the fallout between the pair intensified and, apparently, resulted in the two superstars being separated in a dressing room backlash following the win over Montpellier.

Neymar and Mbappé struck a deadly partnership when the pair joined PSG in 2017, but their relationship has broken down over the last six months. After signing a new three-year contract to postpone his dream move to Real Madrid this summer, Mbappe has not had things his way despite the new deal elevating his status in the dressing room. Having been promised a leading role in the new project which was supposed to commence without the involvement of Neymar, the 23-year-old Frenchman has been forced to share glory with his old partner owning to the former's rejuvenated form in this new campaign.

Prior to the start of the new season, multiple reports suggested that Mbappe and his camp had been pushing for the Brazilian forward to be sold, hinting at the extent of power he had been given. Although the supposed rumors were quelled, the its existence was validated in PSG's second Ligue action of the seasona against Montpellier.

In Saturday's emphatic 5-2 victory over La Paillade, fans saw in plain sight the continuance of the feud between Neymar and Mbappe. Before the Frenchman's eventual 'disasterclass' which has since drawn massive criticism on social media, he missed a spot-kick and was subsequently pictured in a brief altercation with Neymar, gesticulating for the Brazilian to hand him the ball as he attempted and take the second penalty awarded to Les Parisians.

Although both Neymar and Mbappe got on the scoresheet, the known synergy between them was all but absent in the win over Montpellier. In a rather interesting twist, a report from France has indicated that the bad-blood on the pitch was subsequently transferred to the dressing room at the end of the game. As per the account, Sergio Ramos was forced to step in to separate the feuding pair in order to prevent matters from escalating. In a seperate development, Neymar purportedly added more fuel to the fire by 'liking' two social posts that questioned Mbappe's behaviour over the episode.

At the moment, it remains unclear what the solution will be with a potential transfer for either of the two superstars looking unlikely. The issue, however, has the tendency to serve an early disruption to PSG's season in their quest to retaining their Ligue 1 crown while attempting to win the UEFA Champions League.
