The Toffees have thrown out another bid from the Blues in their pursuit for their talented attacker.

Everton have rejected Chelsea's second bid for highly-rated forward Anthony Gordon, a report by Sky Sports News has confirmed. The Blues apparently tested the resolve of the Toffees with an offer thought to be worth $55M (£45M) but were sent away by the latter who insist that the young forward is not for sale.

In what has been a turbulent couple of years for Everton, Anthony Gordon's emergence has been a spark for the Merseysiders. Since making his Premier League debut in January 2020, the 21-year-old has made a case for his remarkable talent with his consistent performance for the Toffees. Under Frank Lampard, he has established himself as a regular starter and was instrumental in his side's battle to remain in the league last season.

As a result of the key role he has played for Everton in recent times, the club aims to reward Gordon with a new contract and an offer is already believed to be on the table. With talks yet to yield any substantial results, Premier League clubs, particularly Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have expressed interest in signing the attacker although his club remains adamant to sell.

Last week, Chelsea made a concrete attempt in their pursuit by bidding $55M (£45M) for Gordon. However, the offer quickly turned down by Everton. On Monday, the Blues, led by new owner Todd Boehly submitted an improved offer in the excess of $55M (£45M). However, as per Sky Sports, that bid was also rebuffed by the Toffees who aim to keep hold of their most-prized asset for as long as possible.

According to the Telegraph, Anthony Gordon is now keen on joining Chelsea and is currently waiting in hope to see if the Stamford Bridge outfit will send a new offer for him.
