The Belgian international is set to make his USA debut imminently, with some sources claiming that DC United coach Wayne Rooney could have him feature in the team's upcoming match on Wednesday.

Considering that they are not only bottom of the Eastern Conference as well as overall in the league, it is safe to say that DC United are in dire need of some additional firepower up front.

It has been a difficult month for new manager Wayne Rooney, who is facing the unwanted prospect of seeing his team become the first team to be eliminated from the MLS Cup Playoffs unless if they can turn things around - and fast.

With just a handful of games remaining, United seem to have been given a major boost. New signing Christian Benteke, who has missed out on five of the team's matches due to issues with his work visa, finally has the right papers and according to reports, could make his debut as early as this Wednesday, when DC United face NYC FC on the road.

Benteke is a name that many Premier League fans will be familiar with, having featured for Crystal Palace, Liverpool, and Aston Villa. Over the course of his career with those three clubs, he made over 300 appearances across all comps, scoring nearly 100 goals in the process.

With the World Cup around the corner, the 31-year-old striker will look to hit the ground running at his new club as he looks to make a serious case for being included in Roberto Martinez's 23-man squad for this year's tournament in Qatar.
