The Serie A ace will enter the final year of his San Siro contract this summer but despite this, a Premier League move appears unlikely for the Portuguese talent.

AC Milan ace Rafael Leao is one of the most talented young wingers in world football. This was evident for all to see, not only Serie A fans, as the Portuguese ace played a huge role in the Rossoneri's 2021/22 Scudetto win.

The 23-year-old finished that campaign as the club's top assist provider (8) and joint-top scorer (11) in the Italian top-flight while racking up 14 goals and 12 assists across all competitions.

Unfortunately for Pioli's side, a few mega-rich European clubs have come sniffing around for the AC Milan talent due to this brilliant form and his unfavorable contractual situation at the San Siro.

The first are Chelsea, who were keen on landing the winger during the summer. This was confirmed by Il Diavolo director Paulo Maldini, admitting that a verbal offer was made by the London giants before the transfer window shut close.

And while Boehly and Co. did not land the Portuguese ace, the Blues were tipped to return for the player next summer when he enters the final year of his current San Siro deal, which might force the Scudetto holders to sell.

Additionally, Manchester City have also been linked with a move for Leao, albeit loosely, as Jack Grealish is yet to impress at the Etihad Stadium, meaning a new winger could be recruited next summer.

Unfortunately, both clubs – and any other Premier League side harboring an interest in the attacker will be disappointed as Gazzetta dello Sport report that the player is keen on signing a new deal at San Siro.

It's no secret that the Serie A giants were planning for contract negotiations with the player. However, with Premier League clubs showing interest in Rafael, the hope was that he would turn down any offer from Maldini and Co. and instead hold out for a move to England.

However, according to the aforementioned Italian news outlet, this does not appear to be the case as Leao is said to be keen on a Rossoneri stay.
