This was a strange week in terms of audience numbers, as some of the expected games did not attract the attention that could have been expecting.

Last week's battle for the ratings delivered interesting results, especially with no top-noth leagues being played around the world due to the International break.

The games featuring national teams such as Spain or England did not carry that much attention, leaving North American teams such as the USMNT and Mexico to fight for the top spots. Additionally, one of the recently created competitions between Liga MX clubs and MLS sides claimed one of the three places in the podium.

This time, the first place in this ranking went to Mexico's win over Perú this past Saturday, where Gerardo Martino's men ended a winless run and saw Hirving "Chucky" Lozano giving them a much deserved win. No other game played this week came close to El Tri's audience numbers and rating, as their average viewers numbers doubled the amount of the runners-up.

Speaking of which, the Leagues Cup clash between Cincinnati and Guadalajara came up in second place for the week, with the MLS side claiming a 3-1 victory. This win all but confirms the MLS' dominance over Liga MX teams, who seem not to care about these tournaments and send their reserve squads to keep their contract running.

The podium was completed by the USMNT, who's loss to Japan was followed by almost 200,000 viewers. Gregg Berhalter's men will really need to step it up if they want to return to a World Cup after missing out on the 2018 edition, because if they keep showing what they did during the break, they might want to start preparing for a quick return.

Let us have a look at the numbers last week brought us in terms of football games.
