Milan will be hoping to get revenge on Atalanta for their humiliating loss earlier this season when they welcome La Dea to the Stadio San Siro on Friday, July 24. Live Soccer TV's match preview provides team news, match facts, and global broadcast listings for Milan vs Atalanta.

Preview: Milan vs Atalanta

Thanks to a very strong run of form, AC Milan now have climbed into sixth spot and have cut the gap between themselves and fifth-placed Roma to just two points. Following their Coppa Italia exit, Stefano Pioli's side have been determined to secure a European spot by finishing as high in the table as possible, and they have put in some impressive performances since Serie A restarted following the COVID-19 induced paused. The Diavolo will come into this upcoming match having beaten Roma, Lazio, and Juventus  - all notable as these teams rank higher than them in the table.

In their most recent match, a brace from veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic was enough to keep a dogged Sassuolo side at bay and prevent the Neroverdi from spoiling their nine game unbeaten streak that extends back to when the league resumed action. However, that streak will now come under major threat because Atalanta are coming to the Stadio San Siro.

La Dea are clearly determined to prove that their top four finish from last season was not just a fluke, and since the league restarted, they have picked up just right from where they left off. Gian Piero Gasperini's side haven't lost a game since they were beaten 2-1 by now-relegated SPAL on January 20th, and now are on a formidable 15-match unbeaten streak in Serie A.

Still, given that they're a "smaller" team, one may assume that this series of matches may involve lower-scoring affairs or perhaps just a series of draws. If so, then that individual is well off base: Atalanta have won 12 of those 15 games, and scored seven goals during two of those ties. In addition, it's not Juventus, Inter, or a Lazio side with Capocannoniere candidate Ciro Immobile in their ranks who have scored the most goals in Serie A this season.

It's Atalanta. So far, the Bergamo-based outfit have netted a whopping 95 times in 35 matches, which is 22 more than Juventus, 24 more than Lazio, and 21 more than Inter. It's also 40 more than Milan, who have scored 55. Thus, it's not surprising that the visitors have three players in the top ten goalscorers in Serie A this season: Luis Muriel (18 goals), Duvan Zapata (17 goals), and Josip Ilicic (15 goals).

Defensively, they have not done too badly either, conceding 44 times, which is the same as Milan, and both teams have shipped slightly fewer goals than Roma and Napoli (47 each). Milan, however, will naturally be determined to avoid the same result from the last meeting between these two teams, where Atalanta ended up cruising to a 5-0 win; Ilicic and Muriel were among the goalscorers on a nightmare evening for Diavolo fans.

Team news: Milan vs Atalanta

Milan: Worryingly for the hosts, they've been hit with an injury crisis ahead of this tough fixture. Key defenders Alessio Romagnoli, Theo Hernandez and Andrea Conti are all out injured. In addition, they're still missing Samu Castillejo, Leo Duarte, Lucas Paqueta, and Mateo Musacchio. And finally, midfielder Ismael Bennacer is suspended, leaving Stefano Pioli with more selection headaches going into this game.

Atalanta: So far this season, the visitors have avoided any major injuries to key members of their squad, but they'll be missing Timothy Castagne due to a ban for this fixture.
