La Premier League, spesso definita EPL (Premier League inglese), è uno dei campionati di calcio nazionali più iconici e prestigiosi al mondo. Fondata nel 1992 quando i migliori club inglesi si staccarono dalla Football League, la Premier League è diventata da allora un colosso del bel gioco.
La competizione, che vede tre squadre retrocesse e altre tre promosse ogni stagione, comprende 20 squadre in totale, con Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal e Liverpool che dominano la scena. Il campionato segue un formato a doppio girone all'italiana, con ogni club che gioca un totale di 38 partite durante la stagione - 19 in casa e 19 in trasferta - dando vita a una competizione emozionante e intensa che tipicamente va da agosto a maggio. Il campionato ha visto anche la partecipazione di diversi allenatori iconici come Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, Jose Mourinho e Pep Guardiola, con Ferguson che ha guidato i Red Devils a otto dei primi 11 titoli.

A livello internazionale, la Premier League ha ampliato la sua portata in modo esponenziale. Nel corso della sua storia, la massima serie inglese si è fatta strada sugli schermi di alcune delle più grandi emittenti del mondo, tra cui Fox Sports e NBC Sports negli USA, SuperSport nella regione sub-sahariana e beIN Sports nella regione MENA ( Medio Oriente e Nord Africa).
Negli Stati Uniti, ESPN2 ha avuto due periodi separati di trasmissione delle partite della Premier League, prima tra il 1996 e il 1998 e poi di nuovo dal 2009 al 2013. Fox Soccer, invece, ha trasmesso le partite della Premier League dal 1998 al 2013. Nel 2013, NBC Sports ha rilevato i diritti della Premier League, sottolineando un approccio non americanizzato e assumendo talenti competenti. Hanno introdotto diversi programmi in studio e si sono persino assicurati i diritti fino alla fine della stagione 2027-28.
