The Argentinian legend criticized Blatter's intentions of extending his tenure as FIFA's president, inviting people to vote for Prince Ali bin Al-Hussein

Diego Armando Maradona continued to attack Joseph Blatter's term as FIFA President. The Argentinian player spoke about the Swiss exec while supporting Prince Ali bin Al Hussein from Jordan, who is one of the four contenders to occupy FIFA's top job. Maradona believes the four-time FIFA president should leave his post, since football is becoming "poorer and more corrupt" under his arm.

“As the football world knows, inside FIFA there is total anarchy, where there is only one man [Blatter] who decides everything. But he knows absolutely nothing. Therefore, it is time for a change. And it is so because even his colleagues should actually advise him to leave," Maradona stated.

"El Diez", who won the 1986 World Cup with Argentina, and led La Albiceleste to the final match of the 1990 World Cup, blasted the Swiss president for supporting Qatar's bid to host the 2022 tournament, which has been under suspicion of bribery since they were elected as host nation.

“First we didn’t know where the World Cup was going to be held. Then we found out after Brazil it was Russia and then Qatar. Without any doubt whatsoever Blatter is scared. Blatter is scared. He’s scared of being left out of his share of the cake. That is what really annoys someone like me, who has played in four World Cups. I was chasing the ball. Blatter is chasing champagne,” the Argentinian added.

FIFA's presidential election will be held in Zurich on May 29th, with Blatter looking to rule football's governing body for a fifth term. Dutch exec Michael Van Praag, Prince Ali bin Al Hussein and former footballer Luis Figo are the other contenders for the job.
