Andrea Pirlo proved exactly why he is a football god by providing a hint that could prevent NYCFC from conceding from the spot.

On Sunday afternoon, Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire hosted Patrick Vieira’s New York City FC at the Toyota Park in a thrilling encounter that ended 4-3 in favour of the visitors.

One moment that particularly grabbed the attention of fans and pundits was the penalty kick awarded to the hosts in the second-half. As goalkeeper Josh Saunders was preparing to take the spot-kick, Italian legendary midfielder Andrea Pirlo raised his hand and pointed at the right-side of the goalpost to provide a hint on the direction the ball was heading to after reading David Accam’s body language.

Unfortunately, the 35-year-old goalkeeper chose to ignore Pirlo’s clue and dived to the left-hand side of the goalpost, consequently conceding the penalty.

But despite all that, the match ended 3-4 in favour of the visitors hence handing Patrick Vieira a flying start to his managerial career.
