Four teams remain in the 2022 MLS Playoffs, and after today, fans will know who will be featuring in the finals.

And then there were four. Los Angeles FC, Austin, New York City FC, and Philadelphia Union will all vie for a chance to be crowned winners of the MLS Cup. For New York City, they are hoping to successfully defend their title, having won it last season. For Austin, a newly founded club that only came into existence four years ago, their journey to this juncture will be something fans will remember for a long time. For Los Angeles FC, they will hope to also add the MLS Cup to their cabinet, having come into the playoffs as the Supporters' Shield winners. And for Philadelphia Union, winning this cup would be the crowning achievement on a highly successful campaign that saw them finish the regular season top of the Eastern Conference.

Here is all you need to know ahead of the MLS Cup Conference Finals.

Los Angeles FC vs Austin

This game will be quite fascinating, as it will pit the top two sides from the Western Conference - Los Angeles FC and Austin - against each other. LA FC finished in top spot, with their 67 points enough to ensure that they won not just the Western Conference, but also came into this competition as the Supporters' Shield winners. Meanwhile, Austin, who were only founded in 2018, have had a simply amazing season, finishing second in the conference with 56 points and making it into the playoffs for the first time in their nascent history.

Los Angeles come into this match having narrowly edged out cross town rivals LA Galaxy in an entertaining 3-2 city derby clash during the conference semi's, while Austin beat fellow Texan side Dallas 2-1 to book their spot here. Despite being one of the newer faces on the scene, Austin do have a strong track record against their upcoming opponents, and in fact, are unbeaten against them so far this season, with a 4-1 victory at home and a 2-1 win on the road.

In terms of personnel, the hosts will be concerned about the fitness of star man Gareth Bale, who is a doubt for this crunch tie due to a leg injury, while the visitors will be missing Freddy Kleemann due to a knee problem.

Philadelphia Union vs New York City FC

Reigning holders NYC FC are hoping to successfully retain their MLS Cup title, but will first need to find a way past Philadelphia Union. The visitors easily brushed aside Inter Miami 3-0 last round to book their spot here, while Union earned a narrow 1-0 win over new side Cincinnati to set up a rematch with a bitter rival. Indeed, the two sides have began a rivalry in recent years, with the two famously meeting during last year's Eastern Conference Final and Union, who were dealing with a COVID-19 crisis in their ranks, losing 2-1.

As such, revenge will be firmly on Union's minds when the two sides meet once again, less than a year after last year's match.
