Germany will look to get revenge on their upcoming hosts for their shocking loss to the Eastern European minnows as they aim to secure their spot at the 2022 World Cup.

Preview: North Macedonia vs Germany

With 18 points from their first seven games, Germany are fully in control of Group J. Die Mannschaft boast a six point lead over the chasing pack, and have been largely flawless so far - save for a shock loss to their upcoming hosts earlier this year. Since Hansi Flick took over, Germany have won all four of their matches, and more important, haven't conceded a single goal. A win in this game will pretty much book their ticket at next year's World Cup, a tournament in which the 2014 winners will be looking to make amends after their horrible showing at the 2018 edition.

Germany had to battle from a goal down to secure a well-earned 2-1 win over Romania, with goals from Bayern duo Serge Gnabry and Thomas Muller ensuring that Flick, who notably managed the duo at Bayern, maintained his 100 per cent winning record.

As for North Macedonia, they sit in second and will continue their battle for a first-ever appearance at a World Cup. The Eastern European minnows made their debut at EURO 2020, and while they not surprisingly crashed out in the group stages, they'll still be aiming to continue gracing big tournaments in the not too distant future. They lost their opener with Romania, but have recovered and have picked up 12 points from their ensuing 12 games. That includes a shocking win over Germany earlier this year, and more recently, a 4-0 win over Liechtenstein, but it's hard to see them getting lucky this time around to pull off what would be a huge upset over a recently resurgent Germany side.
