This will be a welcoming news for the Catalans, who will enter this match, being under a two goal deficit when they lost to AC Milan 2-0 in the first leg played at San Siro.

The 33 year old has played in six matches so far in the Champions League this season, and has failed to register any goal. Despite his growing age, his presence will be a boost to the Barcelona side, who will refuse to stop fighting till the last minute.

The Blaugrana midfielder has highlighted the importance of an early goal, and has declared it will be crucial in their quest to qualify for the next round of the UEFA Champions League.

Even though Barcelona will have to score at least three to guarantee a definite qualification, Xavi remains confident that his side has enough quality to make the impossible happen.

Speaking to El Mundo Deportivo. The midfielder said:

"I am quite optimistic that we can turn the first-leg defeat around, even though Milan are a strong and competitive team. The pitch will be in great condition and the fans will be behind us,"

"We will try and get a goal in the opening 15 or 20 minutes to get back into the tie. We have 90 minutes to turn things around, and perhaps even 120 minutes. Anything can happen in the game."

Xavi has further hailed the character shown by his teammates and has declared his side’s intentions of giving the fans something to cheer about this Tuesday.

"Everybody has responded well to our recent losses and that encourages the team. We want to give the fans something to cheer about and will attack in numbers right from the start.”

The veteran midfielder has also urged his teammates to put up a responsible display and not make any mistakes that might prove to be costly for the Catalans. He has also insisted his colleagues to revive the fluidity they once had to spur for a comeback.

"We have to act careful. We cannot afford to give away free-kicks in dangerous positions or lose possession easily. We have to find back the fluidity that has seemingly been missing recently."
