About

C8 History, Coverage, Features

C8 is a French television channel owned and operated by Canal+. It was launched as D8 (short for Direct 8) on October 7, 2012, but it would later be rebranded to C8 (short for Channel 8) on September 5, 2016. C8 is considered a general interest television channel with three “sister channels”: Canal+, CStar, and CNews.

Being a general entertainment channel, C8 has offered over the years programming that can be enjoyed by most audiences. Topics aired by C8 have included entertainment shows, general information programs, talk shows, magazine shows, game shows, movies, and sports.

Speaking about sports, C8 has aired live games for top-caliber events such as the UEFA Champions League. In fact, the three shows with the highest ratings in this channel’s history are three UEFA Champions League finals. The first of these took place in 2016, which featured Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid, while the second highest-rated show was the 2017 UCL final between Los Blancos and Juventus. The third highest rating in C8’s history was the 2018 UEFA CL final between Zinedine Zidane’s men and Liverpool, which saw them lift the competition’s title for the third time in a row.

C8 has expanded its service over the years, as its signal has also been available in countries such as Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland, and Monaco. C8 broadcasts in High Definition, but a downscaled version of this feed is also available for users who are not able to watch their signal in HD.
