About Gol
Gol is a Spanish television channel owned and operated by Mediapro. The channel existed previously as Gol Televisión from September 19, 2008 to June 20, 2015, but the agreement between Mediapro and Atresmedia ended, leaving a spot to be taken by beIN Sports. The channel would return to the Spanish TDT on June 1, 2016 simply known as Gol.
The channel is known in Spain for its sports coverage, which has included disciplines such as football, boxing, indoor soccer, padel, mixed martial arts, handball, tennis, motor sports, extreme sports, and more. Over the years, this channel has aired these disciplines both live and on delayed broadcasts.
Speaking about football, Gol has landed some of the top competitions in the world, including La Liga. Other domestic competitions aired over the years by Gol include the Spanish Copa del Rey, the Spanish Segunda División, and the Liga Iberdrola, the top-tier category for women’s football in Spain. Other club tournaments aired on this channel have included the UEFA Europa League, among other competitions.
Gol’s football coverage has also included competitions featuring national teams. Over the years, Gol has aired tournaments such as the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup, FIFA U-20 and U-17 championships, and the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Since its return to the Spanish television system, Gol broadcasts its content via an HD feed. Users who do not have access to that technology will watch a downscaled version of the same feed.
