About TRT Spor
TRT Spor is a Turkish television channel owned and operated by the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation. It was launched on August 9, 2010 as TRT 3, with the channel changing its name to TRT Spor whenever a live sports broadcast was being covered on the channel. It eventually was rebranded simply as TRT Spor on April 11, 2011 and has been working like that ever since.
As its Turkish name states, TRT Spor specializes in covering live sports events. Over the years, the channel has mostly focused on football, but that does not mean that it is the only discipline covered by this channel. Sports such as volleyball, basketball, athletics, and biking events have also found airtime on this channel. Coverage for such sports has been divided between TRT Spor and its sister network TRT Spor 2 since the latter was launched almost a decade after TRT Spor.
Speaking about football, TRT Spor has covered live events for the Turkish First Division, the Turkish Super Lig, and Coppa Italia games. Additional coverage on this channel has included repeat broadcasts of certain Bundesliga games.
Initially, TRT Spor was conceived as a Standard Definition channel, but a High-Definition feed was developed and launched on December 8, 2014. Both feeds may still be available on certain pay-tv carriers.
