About
TV 8 History, Coverage, Features
TV8 is a Turkish televisión channel owned and operated by the Acun Media Group. It was launched on February 2, 1999, and quickly evolved from an entertainment channel to a general interest network.
Over the years, TV8 changed its programming to add more topics to its usual coverage. Starting out as a news channel, the network proceeded to add topics such as music, entertainment, game shows, sports broadcasts, talk shows, reality shows, TV series, and more.
Speaking about sports, the channel began covering disciplines such as football, basketball, motorsports, and more. Most of the sports covered on this channel have featured international competitions, but some domestic events have also been included in the channel’s grid.
Football leagues and tournaments covered by this channel have included the Coppa Italia, the Spanish Copa del Rey, and the English Premier League. While some of the events have been covered exclusively on this channel, almost all their broadcasting rights concerning sports have been shared with other networks.
TV8’s first broadcasts were available to audiences in Standard Definition, but a High-Definition feed was developed and launched on June 1, 2014. Added to its availability in Turkey, the channel has also been accessible in countries such as the Netherlands, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Cyprus.
