About Superliga
The Albanian Superliga (Albanian: Kategoria Superiore) is the highest level of men's association football in Albania. It was founded in 1930 under the name Kategoria e Parë (First Division) and is organized by the Albanian Football Association (Albanian: Federata Shqiptare e Futbollit; FSHF).
The Albania Superliga operates on the relegation and promotion system. Ten clubs participate in the league. The teams face each other four times in the standard round-robin format, which amounts to 36 matches.
At the end of the season, the club with the highest number of points is crowned champion. Relatively, the two bottom-ranked teams are relegated to the Albanian First Division. They are replaced with the two highest-placed teams of the latter division.
