A deal has been agreed between Red Bulls and Revolution to trade Saer Sene for Andre Akpan.

Another transfer has been agreed in the MLS after the New York Red Bulls exchanged forward Andre Akpan for Revolution’s 27-year-old french player Saer Sene. The New York club will also give allocation money to the Revolution as part of the deal. This also means the Red Bulls will get an international roster slot.

Saer Sene has scored 17 goals in 3 MLS seasons and has played in 10 games with the Revs this season. On the other hand, Andre Akpan, 26, has scored 4 goals in the MLS and has made 5 appearances with the Red Bulls this season. Both Eastern Conference clubs seem to be pleased with the addition of these talented players to their rosters as they look forward to reach the playoffs and be title contenders.

New York Red Bulls Sporting Director Andy Roxburgh said

“Saer, who can play wide or up front, will add another dimension and another option to our attack”. He also added: “We are excited to bring him aboard and at the same time, we wish Andre all the best with his new club”.

From Revolution’s side, general manager Michael Burns said that they believe that Andre can provide them with added competition at the forward position and give them more depth heading into a playoff push.

Via Twitter, Andre Akpan showed his excitement for the new challenge ahead. He returns to Massachusetts where he spent 4 years at Harvard University.
