The Portuguese ace's agent has all but ended the 20-time English Premier League champions's hopes of seeing the 29-year-old back in a Red Devils jersey

Cristiano Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes has all but ended Manchester United's hopes of seeing the Portuguese star return to the club by claiming the player will retire at Real Madrid.

It has been five years since the former Sporting ace left Old Trafford, but recent rumors have heavily been tipping the 29-year-old to exit Los Blancos and head back to the Red Devils.

The 20-time English Premier League champions' coach Louis Van Gaal is reportedly to be ready to move for the Portugal captain despite the hefty £60m price tag for a four-year contract, costing the club £20m a year in salaries, equaling a package worth £140m.

However, the player's agent appears to have crushed those rumors, claiming Ronaldo is happy at Santiago Bernabeu, and that he staying with the 10-time Champions League winners, where he will continue to break La Liga records until he retires at the age of 40

"Cristiano holds United dear to his heart because he was there six years," Jorge Mendes told Elpartidodelas12. "But now he just thinks of Real Madrid and he will always be there, and he is thrilled.

"People know that it is impossible to get Cristiano Ronaldo to leave Real Madrid.

"Ronaldo is the best player ever. He keeps improving and while he has affection towards Manchester United, he wants to stay at Real Madrid.

"He is happy there, he has a great relationship with the president, and has a long contract: he will retire at Real Madrid.

"There won't be any player as good as him for the next 500 years."

Mendes also insisted that Ronaldo, who won a second Champions League medal last year in Lisbon, is keen on adding a third title to his career.

"It's his dream to win the Champions League again," Mendes added. "He is always hungry for more and never ceases to amaze."
