According to Telegraaf, the Red Devils are ready to spend big for a star striker, and have reportedly already found a candidate.

English Premier League giants Manchester United have not been lethal in front of goal this campaign.

Their 24 goals in 20 games is a tally bettered by the likes of West Ham, Southampton, and new boys on the block Watford, let alone the top-three Arsenal, Leicester City and Man City.

Hence the fans’ cries for a world-class striker, having seen the in-form Javier Hernandez sold over the summer to Bayer Leverkusen, and with Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney struggling to lead the frontline.

But could the January transfer window see the 20-time league champions’ goalscoring worries come to an end? Possibly so.

According to Dutch Daily Telegraaf, the Old Trafford side are not afraid to spend big, with claims that they are ready to reach for their wallets to land the league’s joint top-scorer: Romelu Lukaku.

Although no exact price tag has been slapped on the Belgian forward, the article reports that €50m could be enough to pry Everton of their prize asset.

With 15 goals in 20 games in the English top-flight, 18 across all competitions, 11 in his last 10 outings, the once Chelsea outcast has now grown into one of the Premier League’s most formidable strikers.

However, it remains unlikely that the Toffees would sell the 22-year-old anytime soon, let alone the mid-season transfer window, having previously shown their unwillingness to sell their star players such as Leighton Baines, Ross Barkley, and John Stones.
