It’s not transfer time yet, but AC Milan are already preparing a move for Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard, reports claim. Will “Captain Planet” leave the struggling Reds soon?

Steven Gerrard recently pledged his future to Liverpool. However, reports from Italy claim that the star midfielder is on AC Milan's radar.AC Milan’s new coach, Massimiliano Allegri, is believed to be an admirer of the English international midfielder. According to the media in Italy, the manager is keen to sign Steven Gerrard – who nearly left Liverpool during the last transfer window after publicly avowing his disappointment concerning the club’s situation.

Reports explain that AC Milan will sell striker Alexandre Pato to billionaires Manchester City for a fee of €65M. The Italian giants will then use part of the cash to offer Liverpool a sum of £35M for the services of Steven Gerrard.

At the moment, though, these reports from Italy look more like some kind of “fantasy football market” news.

Besides the fact that “Pato fans” Manchester City could play a major role in such a transfer deal, it seems like AC Milan will not give in to money in the near future for their not-for-sale star striker whereas Steven Gerrard recently reiterated his desire to remain a Liverpool player. Well, the January transfer window may witness AC Milan, Manchester City, Liverpool, Steven Gerrard, and Alexandre Pato’s name making much noise all over Europe. In the meantime, these reports will sound more like rumors in the ears of the public.

Talking about Steven Gerrard, the captain is presently enjoying a midweek break due to fitness reasons. The player is expected to return into Liverpool’s starting lineup against Blackpool this weekend. On Thursday night, though, the Merseyside Reds will come up against Utrecht in the UEFA Europa League without “Captain Planet”.
