Pep looks to force the Ivorian out from yet another established European side.

Yaya Toure’s future at Manchester City has gone from bad to worse, as the Ivorian has found himself excluded from their Champions League squad by new boss Pep Guardiola.

The new season is in full swing, yet the once influential midfielder has only featured in one game for the Citizens – the second leg of their Champions League play-off tie with Steaua Bucharest.

Upon Guardiola’s appointment, many questioned whether Toure would have to leave the Etihad. There was interest in the 33-year-old from Inter Milan, but the opted to stay and see out his contract.

With 18 overseas players at his disposal, Pep could only take 17 and thus decided to cut the man whom he forced out of Barcelona in 2010.

The Citizens can make three changes to their Champions League squad once the group stage wraps up, meaning Toure could make an appearance should they make the knockout stage.

However, he will still miss all their Group C clashes with Spanish champions Barcelona, Scottish champions Celtic, and Borussia Monchengladbach of Germany.

With only one year remaining Toure’s contract with the English Premier League heavyweights, this all points to one thing: Yaya’s time with Manchester City is near its end.

See who made Guardiola’s final squad for the Champions League group stage.

Goalkeeper: Claudio Bravo, Willy Caballero

Midfielders:
Fernando, Raheem Sterling, Ilkay Gundogan, Jesus Navas, Kevin De Bruyne, Fabian Delph, Leroy Sane, David Silva, Fernandinho

Attackers:
