Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel isn't impressed by Guardiola's tactics, since his success has to be related to his former players

The rivalry between Manchester United and Manchester City will have an added bonus this weekend, since José Mourinho and Pep Guardiola will be in charge of these teams.

Considering the hype Guardiola's arrival has generated among Premier League fans and experts, it's not surprising to hear voices that are unimpressed by the tactician's presence. One of those voices belongs to Peter Schmeichel, who labelled the Spanish coach as "boring" ahead of his first Manchester Derby.

"He was okay at Bayern Munich. I have to say he was okay. For me, personally, he changed a really good, entertaining team to be become more boring to watch. Whereas Bayern before were very direct, they won the treble, had quick players and were exciting to watch," Schmeichel stated in an interview with Omnisport.

The Danish goalie was part of the Manchester United team that won the treble in 1999.

The former goalkeeper didn't hold back, and even hinted that Guardiola's success was possible because of the players he had around.

Pep comes in with an incredible reputation. What he did with Barcelona was fantastic, his work was fantastic, but he was also very lucky he had the players to bring in the philosophy that he has in football," the legendary shot-stopper added.

The 1992 UEFA Euro winner with Denmark concluded the interview hinting that it won't be easy for Guardiola to see his style flourish in the EPL, considering the amount of talent and the dreadful schedule the teams have to endure.

"The Premier League is a completely different to any other in the world. It just goes on and on and on, you feel it never stops, even in March you have 12 games to go, you think will this ever stop?" the shot-stopper concluded.
