Sorry, Barcelona. It looks like the Spaniard is going nowhere.

Arsenal fans are worried over the status of Hector Bellerin, and rightly so, as the starlet continues to be linked with a return to Barcelona. Given the Blaugrana’s history of prizing star names from the Gunners, supporters can be forgiven for losing sleep over this matter.

However, the player’s representative has handed fans of the north London club great news, admitting that the Spaniard is close to agreeing a new deal. Albert Botines revealed to the Guardian that the 21-year-old is on the road to extending his current deal.

"We are speaking and are now a lot closer than we were two weeks ago. In a normal situation he will sign," Botines said.

"Hector is very happy at Arsenal. This would be the fourth time he has signed a new contract at the club and it is clear he has made good progress."

Bellerin was a youth product of the Catalan giants before Arsene Wenger’s side swooped in for the full-back. The Spaniard has now grown into one of the most exciting full-backs in the game.

Barcelona’s interest comes as no surprise, given that the have not yet found a true successor to Dani Alves – he left for Juventus over the summer.
