The Catalan boss was especially impressed by Silva and Yaya Toure, who were key for the Sky Blues in Saturday's clash vs Crystal Palace.

Saturday's FA Cup win gave Pep Guardiola reasons to smile about.

First off, the team made it to the fifth round of the competition. Next, the Catalan boss celebrated that his crew managed to make it to that stage without conceding a goal. And finally, winning this match 3-0 was quite fair due to all the chances his team enjoyed.

"The important thing is we created a lot of chances, did score three goals and also kept a clean sheet. It’s good to have a clean sheet because of the goals we’ve conceded lately," Guardiola stated.

But when it came to his players, Guardiola praised a couple of his midfielders: David Silva and Yaya Touré.

"We can play better but I’m happy and David (Silva) was amazing the way he kept waiting and waiting for the right moment before playing in Leroy – and Yaya, with his quality, scoring the third – he is an exceptional player," the coach added.

Before calling it a day, having Vincent Kompany around is something that Guardiola didn't want to overlook.

"We are also happy for Vincent. He’s had a long time away and he played 90 minutes today with no injuries – now he can go forward with confidence and we have another player for the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League," Guardiola concluded.
