Die Mannschaft's head coach is thrilled to see the Borussia Dortmund star back in the team.

It's been 795 days since Marco Reus put his Germany kit but the 29-year-old had the opportunity to do so in Germany's 2-1 defeat to Austria on Saturday. The forward missed out on the opportunity to feature in his nation's success story at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and, subsequently, missed out on Euro 2016 - all via injury.

After overcoming his ill-luck this time around, Reus will have a role to play for the world champions having been named in the squad expected to lead Germany's title defense at Russia. His remarkable performances for Borussia Dortmund at the latter part of the just ended league season left an impression on Joachim Loew and the Die Mannschaft manager believes there are exciting days ahead with the talented winger back in his side.

"It's good that he is back with the team after a long time out," Löw said according to DW.

"He's incredibly skillful, intelligent and a surprise for opponents. He's a rocket.

"It was important for him to get used to the team. I hope he comes through the next few weeks unscathed, then we can all look forward to seeing Marco at the World Cup."

Relatively, goalkeeper Manuel Neuer also looks set to grace the tournament in Russia after featuring in the Saturday's friendly - his first appearance in a match since September 2017.
