England will face Denmark without Steven Gerrard. The Liverpool captain suffered a groin injury during his side’s famous win away to Chelsea last Sunday.
The last time England played, there was controversy as Steven Gerrard featured in the match whereas he was said to be unfit. Towards the end of that game, which was against France, the play maker suffered a bad injury at the fury of Liverpool; England lost that encounter, either way.

This time though, it has been made quite clear that Steven Gerrard will not be in position to play in the Denmark vs England match. Now although he is expected to join the rest of his national team mates, Liverpool Coach Kenny Dalglish is certain that his skipper won’t participate in Wednesday’s friendly.

“Gerrard has a groin problem,” Dalglish was quoted as saying by AFP.

“We have spoken to the England team. He’s got to go [to the Watford training base with Fabio Capello’s squad] to let them have a look at him, but he won’t be playing.”

Like Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand will also not be playing due to injury. Wayne Rooney or Frank Lampard may then be assigned to captain the Three Lions in the Denmark vs England friendly match.
