The Brazilian midfielder has revealed the reason why he is yet to make his competitive debut for the Reds.

For the third Premier League game running, Liverpool was without the service of summer signing Fabinho but still managed to nick a 1-0 win against Brighton on Saturday. The 24-year-old midfielder joined the Merseysiders from Monaco for a fee of 44 million pounds but is yet to make his competitive debut despite actively featuring in the preseason.

In the opening game of the season against West Ham, Fabinho was an unused substitute but the Brazilian has since been amiss in the squads that took on Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion. His boss, Jurgen Klopp, prior to Matchday 3, highlighted the former Monaco stalwart is yet to adapt to the system at Liverpool although he is convinced he will come good.

Speaking exclusively to Liverpool Echo, Fabinho acknowledged his manager's words but insisted that he is ready for the challenge having prepared adequately in the preseason.

"I'm aware it's a different playing style than Monaco," he said.

"There were two in midfield there whereas here at Liverpool there's usually three.

"My midfield partners have provided me with guidance and assistance. So have the defense.

"I knew it would change and I feel I've adapted well. You seek guidance from the other players around you and that's worked really well and I feel my performances in preseason were good.

"Monaco had a transition similar to Liverpool. I think the two teams can be compared in this way, both of them have very fast transition, with a very fast player up front.

"I hope to be as important here as I was at Monaco."

Fabinho could get his chance to make his debut when Liverpool takes on Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on September 1.
