Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that the Red Devils are ready to spend in the summer after missing out on a transfer target in January
Sir Alex has repeatedly stated that the he won't be forced into offering ridiculous money for players because of the 'inflated' transfer market. But he has finally admitted that the situation will somehow rather force him to spend.

Considering that Gary Neville and Edwin Van Der Sar will not be at Old Trafford next season, Sir Alex admits that he will have to spend.

"Billionaire owners have introduced a new world that is turning football on its head," he told United Review.

"For our part, we cannot afford to sit in an ivory tower. We have to face the challenge.

"It is a healthy competition and it goes without saying that we will not shirk it and I don't think we are doing so. Although I let the transfer window shut without signing a new player, that is because we did our homework some time ago and didn't have to rush into any emergency buying."

It also appears that United had a transfer target in January but the move did not materialize. Sir Alex then went on to say that the deal has been pushed until the coming summer.

"We had an interest in one player, and I thought we had a chance of bringing him in, but the other parties involved weren't ready and so we have put it away until the summer."

There have been reports that Manchester United are interested in a few players with Gareth Bale being at the top of the list.
