The Spanish midfielder aimed a dig at Los Blancos' fans for their 'support' of Cristiano Ronaldo during those ceremonies.

Criticizing the bitter rival is a common thing when Real Madrid and Barcelona players talk about each other, but this time, a former Barcelona footballer had kind words for one of his opponents.

Spanish midfielder Xavi heaped praised on Luka Modric after winning FIFA's "The Best" award over Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah. The Croatian midfielder's win represented a change of guard in all award ceremonies, while also making some justice to the footballer after several years as one of the most influential players out there, according to Hernández.

"I was glad with his win. There are no colors when you are giving out an award to the best player of the bunch. He's pretty intelligent, and he's one of us, he's one of those that love football," Hernández said.

Then, Xavi turned his sights on those who support Cristiano Ronaldo over Messi, especially those who are Real Madrid fans and don't admit Lionel Messi's class.

"Those who value top football know that Messi can do things no other player can do. After the award went to Modric's hands, we need to ask Real Madrid's supporters how they feel about Cristiano Ronaldo and the Ballon D'Or," Xavi added.

Lastly, Hernández referred to Los Blancos' current woes, warning that the Spanish giants can't be ruled out in La Liga's title race.

"They are never ready to throw in the towel. You can never rule them out, because they always find a life line," the midfielder concluded.
