The Spanish footballer might end up watching the entire 2019-20 season on the sidelines after picking up a knee injury against Arsenal.

Marco Asensio had a disappointing 2018-19 season, especially since he failed to make his way into Real Madrid's regular lineup with all of the team's three coaches.

Just when things seemed to be improving for the player born in Mallorca, the footballer picked up a nasty knee injury, which may rule him out of the upcoming season.

This is also a major blow for Zinedine Zidane, who saw Asensio as his first choice to play on the right wing of Real Madrid's attack.

Asensio had not shared his thoughts on the injury, but he chose to write his words on social media today. Needless to say, Asensio's tale was truly heart-breaking, especially because he was hoping to vindicate himself after what turned out to be a lackluster season.

Asensio has not undergone surgery yet, as doctors in charge of his case have not set a date to do so. The left-footed player is expected to be out for nine months due to a torn ACL and a meniscus tear.
