Philippe Coutinho demanded honesty from Barcelona's execs a couple of weeks ago, and the Blaugrana side has replied by setting their asking price to let the player leave.
A report by Mundo Deportivo states that Barcelona is ready to bid farewell to their most expensive transfer of all time, and not only that, they are willing to let him leave for less money than they initially paid for his services.
The Spanish newspaper reveals that Barcelona will ask for $133M to offload Coutinho, which is less than the fee they paid Liverpool to sign him 18 months ago. Back then, Barcelona paid Liverpool a bit over $150M, with add-ons to that deal that would see the transfer escalate to $194M. Unfortunately for Los Blaugranas, the deal did not work as they planned, and they have only been forced to pay $16M out of those add-ons.
The real problem for Barcelona begins when they realize there are not so many teams ready to afford the player's wages. The Catalan side has identified PSG, Manchester United and Manchester City as the only teams out there ready to offer the Brazilian player the kind of money he earns at Camp Nou. To make matters worse, none of these teams have forwarded bids to sign the footballer, which makes a potential transfer even more difficult.
Coutinho's exit is seen as a key move for Barcelona in their alleged efforts to sign Neymar, even if there is no offer from the Catalan side involving just the two players at the moment.
