The two lifted a combined seven trophies but neither were nominated for this award.

The full list of nominees for The Best FIFA Awards are out and as usual, the list has stirred up some controversy surrounding the candidates for The Best FIFA Men's Player prize.

Ten nominees were announced on Wednesday, which included a few obvious names. Virgil Van Dijk, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo all got nods but this did not raise any eyebrows, as those three are the favorites for the Ballon d'Or.

Given that Liverpool won the Champions League, a few other Anfield players made the cut, including Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, who shared the Premier League Golden Boot last term. However, it's the exclusion of one Reds ace that has everyone shocked.

The man to be snubbed is none other than Alisson, the Liverpool goalkeeper who was an influential figure in their European success. His claim picked up pace during the summer after guiding Brazil to the Copa America award.

There was no denying his importance to the Selecao. The former Roma keeper proved he's the best in the world by keeping a clean sheet against Messi and Aguero in the semi-final clash with Argentina. It should be noted that Alisson won the Golden Glove in the Premier League, Champions League, and Copa America in 2019 yet FIFA could not find room for him on this list.

Another surprise exclusion was Bernardo Silva. The Portuguese ace was a key member in Guardiola's side that won the domestic treble last season. Add to it the Community Shield and UEFA Nations League medals he won and the former Monaco ace lifted five trophies in one year.

He was named Player of the Tournament in the UEFA Nations League and was named the Etihad Player of the Season but was not nominated. Many were surprised to see him and Alisson miss out to the likes of Hazard, Kane, De Jong, and De Ligt.
