The winger limped off in the early minutes of Sunday's clash.

Manchester City winger Leroy Sane could potentially miss out on a transfer to Bayern Munich after picking up an injury in Sunday's clash with Liverpool. The German international limped off in the early minutes of the FA Community Shield matchup.

The 22-year-old attacker chased down a long-ball but ended up colliding with Liverpool's Alexander-Arnold. Having seemingly been caught by the studs of the Liverpool full-back, the former Schalke prodigy stayed on the ground, agonisingly clutching his Achilles. He was subsequently replaced by Gabriel Jesus after he managed to get back on his feet inside the 11th minute.

According to the UK Evening Standard's James Robson, Sane looked to be in a lot of pain and there were concerns on the faces of his teammates who reached out to the bench to hurriedly administer treatment to the winger. That withstanding, the player's purported move to Bayern Munich could hit a snag despite significant headway having been made in the negotiations.

The Bavarians are reportedly close to a £135 million move for the German forward and a wage package of £16.5million-a-year is said to be in place. The Bundesliga champions were keen on completing the deal in the coming days after their attacking ineptness was exposed in Saturday's cup defeat to Borussia Dortmund.

However, they would now have to wait for the extent of Sane's injury to be revealed before the move can be granted the green light.
