The Belgian striker is close to sealing a move away from Manchester United.

Manchester United and Inter Milan have finally reached an agreement for the transfer of Romelu Lukaku. The 26-year-old Belgian striker's medicals is reportedly scheduled for Thursday ahead of a £70 million move to the Serie A outfit.

Lukaku has been a subject of transfer speculation throughout this summer and his desire to continue his career elsewhere is on the verge of nearing its fulfilment. The former Everton star was believed to be closing in on a switch to Juventus in a swap deal which would have seen Paulo Dybala heading in the opposite direction. The claim emerged after Inter Milan had their first formal bid of €60 million (£54 million) for the forward rejected by Manchester United.

Nevertheless, the former Chelsea academy star saw his purported departure to Turin fall apart after Dybala opted against a transfer to Manchester United. Inter subsequently capitalized on the mishap of their rivals and has had an improved offer of £70 million plus add-ons accepted by the Old Trafford outfit.

According to Sky Italia, Lukaku was due to arrive in Italy on Wednesday evening from Belgium. The striker has been waiting for his transfer to Milan by training with his boyhood club Anderlecht. His medicals will be performed on Thursday before he pens a five-year contract that will see him earn £300,000-a-week.

Meanwhile Manchester United is reportedly racing against time to bring in the striker's replacement. The transfer window in England officially closes on Thursday night and, according to El Chiringuito TV, the Red Devils are aiming to sign Athletic Club's Inaki Williams in the coming hours.

The report claims that the Red Devils are willing to everything to bring the player to England before the market closes and this includes paying his release clause of €88 million.
