The Portuguese and Brazilian full-backs have switched places.

Manchester City has confirmed the signing of Juventus full-back Joao Cancelo. The Portuguese full-back's transfer sees Danilo moving in the opposite direction.

After weeks of negotiations, the Citizens finally reached an agreement with the Bianconeri to recruit the 25-year-old defender. The player was valued at £60 million by the latter but an offer of £26 million plus Danilo was enough to convince the club.

Juventus signed Cancelo from Valencia last season following a loan move to Inter Milan. However the fullback, who featured in a total of 34 matches for the Turin outfit, apparently failed to convince the club with his abilities, hence the decision to sanction his sale.

On Wednesday, the Portuguese right-back penned a six-year deal for Manchester City and he is expected to earn around £110,000-a-week in wages. Speaking after signing his contract, the ex-Valencia star revealed that his compatriot Bernardo Silva was influential in his switch to Etihad.

"We've spoken about it a few times, not regularly but occasionally," he said as per Man City's official website.

"He told me that it is an amazing club and the atmosphere is great. That's also one of the reasons why I've decided to come.

"He is a player I admire a lot," he added.

"If I remember rightly, Bernardo and I played in the same team for around eight years.

"We were together at Benfica, so we were together for a while. It will help me and I'm very excited to play with him."

Meanwhile, Danilo also signed a contract that will see him at Juventus until 2024. The Brazilian defender joined Manchester City from Real Madrid in 2017 and made a total of 59 appearances in all competitions.
