Manchester United will not be able to have Paul Pogba around during their clash against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday, as coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has ruled the French superstar out of the UEFA Europa League match due to a foot problem.
The French star featured on Monday's game between the Red Devils and Arsenal, but after consulting with a specialist, the Norwegian boss and the 2018 World Cup champion decided that it would be better for him to watch this game at home.
"He needs further trestment and rest on his ankle," Solskjaer stated.
The Norwegian boss then aimed a dig at the venue where Manchester United will try to make it two-for-two in their Europa League campaign, following their 1-0 win against Astana.
"I probably wouldn't risk him on astro turf anyway if he was available for this game. He needs a bit of rest," the former striker added.
The team also issued an update on their website, where they hinted that the footballer may also miss the clash against Newcastle in the upcoming weekend.
"Paul Pogba requires a period of further rest and conservative treatment for the foot injury he sustained during the game against Southampton in August. Updates will follow in due course," the team's presser states.
