The nerazzurri side defeated Fiorentina with a cameo appearance from their star signing this winter despite the coach's initial feelings on the subject.

Only 24 hours after his first contact with the club, Christian Eriksen enjoyed his first minutes with Inter Milan in their Coppa Italia clash against Fiorentina.

What truly stands out once you find out about this is that coach Antonio Conte did not want to give the player such a speedy debut, but the circumstances that surrounded the game forced him to do so.

"We did not intend to use Eriksen so soon, as he only started training with us yesterday, but Matias Vecino and Barella were the only available midfielders," Conte said.

The game between the nerazzurri and the Viola side was level when Eriksen made his debut with the Milan-based side. Less than one minute after his entry, Nicolo Barella scored the game-winning goal for Inter.

According to Conte, Eriksen's skills should come in handy as the team pushes to end Juventus' dominance in the Italian top-flight.

"Eriksen can play in a few different roles, and we'll see. Eriksen has character and raises the quality level of the squad. I hope to get more players back, because we really are limited in the middle," the coach added.
