The Red Devils have grown tired of De Gea's inconsistencies throughout the season, with this months set to be his last at Old Trafford.

Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea could be living his final moments as Manchester United's first-choice shot-stopper, following reports that suggest how the team's hierarchy has targeted his replacement.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper, who is playing his ninth season at Old Trafford, could very well see the end of his tenure in the Premier League due to the number of mistakes that have seen Man United drop crucial points. The latest of those howlers came on Sunday, when his attempt to clear the ball from his box was blocked by Dominic Calvert-Lewin and forced the Red Devils to fight for a point while coming from behind in the scoreboard.

After this game, the Red Devils' hierarchy has reportedly realized that De Gea's time in the team needs to end, and according to the Daily Mail, the club has identified De Gea's replacement in home grown goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who has dazzled the Premier League while on loan at Sheffield United.

Statistically speaking, as per Opta, Henderson has seemingly had a better season than De Gea. The 22-year-old has kept nine clean sheets, while De Gea has only kept seven. Furthermore, Henderson has conceded 22 times, while the Spaniard has seen opposing strikers find the net 30 times.

On top of all these numbers, Henderson's save percentage is higher than De Gea's, since the English goalie has kept 74.4% of the shots he faced out, while De Gea only has saved 70.5% of the shots taken against him.

The main problem for Manchester United will be to find a team that is willing to pay De Gea his massive wages. As of now, the Spaniard collects a weekly wage of $446,000 (around €400,000), and finding a team capable of matching that number seems quite complicated.
