The former teammate of the Manchester United star has made a revelation with the player's future still up in the air.

Former Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has revealed that he advised Paul Pogba against quitting the Bianconeri prior to his move to Manchester United. The 34-year-old ex-Italian international disclosed that he did not see the French midfielder's move back to Old Trafford as beneficial and, instead, advised him to join a top La Liga club if he fancied moving away.

Marchisio and Pogba were both integral members of the Juventus side that enjoyed unprecedented success between 2012 and 2016. In the four seasons the pair spent together at the Allianz Stadium, the Old Ladies managed to win four consecutive Serie A titles, two Coppa Italias and two Supercoppa Italiana trophies.

Two years before Marchisio's departure from Juventus, a massive opportunity arrived for Paul Pogba to rejoin his old club Manchester United. The World Cup winner will eventually accept the challenge to be part of the Old Trafford outfit's rebuilding project, a decision his former midfield partner was not on board with. Fastforwarding to four years later, speculations suggest that the Frenchman could be on his way back having purportedly been unable to realise the full objective for his return.

In an interview with Tuttosport, Pogba's old partner-in-crime, Marchisio, revealed that his exit should not have come to pass and a rebirth awaits the Manchester United star should he seal a return to Juve this summer.

"I would be very happy [if he came back to Juventus]," he said to the Italian publication.

"I told him that he was wrong to go to Manchester and that if he really wanted to change he should choose Spain.

"Having said that, his return would be extremely positive; Paul would be reborn in the environment he loves and looks after him most.

"And he would give Juventus a lot as they need someone like him in the middle. He is a great professional."
