TUDN screened a total of eight games – mostly Liga MX games – last week, reaching 1,580,000 total viewers and averaging 197,500 per game. Club America’s 3-1 home win over Tigres UANL on Sunday topped the charts with a 0.17 viewership rating and 388,000 average viewers, making it the third most-watched broadcast in American television last week. The broadcast of the UEFA Champions League Group G headliner between Juventus and Barcelona was the only other TUDN transmission that surpassed the 300,000 – 313,000 – and 0.10 viewership rating – 0.12.
NBC Sports Network’s Premier League averaged 320,000 viewers per broadcast last week. However, only three games were broadcasted on the channel. Friday’s fixture turned out to be the least-watched as usual. Wolves’ 2-0 win over Crystal Palace only reached 154,000 average viewers. On the other hand, the Burnley-Chelsea and Newcastle-Everton games averaged 404,000 and 401,000 viewers, respectively. Also, this pair of broadcasts were the most-watched in the week of Oct. 27 through Nov. 2.
Galavision made a rare appearance last week, broadcasting three soccer games that made it to the Showbuzzdaily's top 150 cable originals and network finals. None of the games reached over 100,000 average viewers. The broadcasts showed UEFA Champions League matches in Spanish.
ABC and ESPN broadcasted a Major League Soccer game each and received good ratings in return. The Columbus Crew’s 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Union reached 283,000 average viewers through ABC on Sunday. ESPN’s Portland Timbers and LA Galaxy 5-2 goal fest entertained 209,000 people on Wednesday night.
