From the 24 called-up players, 14 are 20 years or younger and 10 are uncapped. The squad averages 21 years, 300 days of age.

Some exciting debuts await ahead of the USMNT clash against Wales, including Bayern Munich’s Chris Richards and Dortmund’s Gio Reyna. Another player in Europe who many will keep an eye out for is 17-year-old Yunus Musah, who plays for Valencia and accepted a call-up to play for the USA despite having dual citizenship with England.

Some of the young players chosen have been making their marks in European top-flight leagues, while others are waiting for their time to shine. The following are the weapons that Berhalter will have at his disposal.

Yunus Musah – Valencia

Born in New York City, Valencia’s Yunus Musah is the newest exciting USMNT prospect after an active start of the season in La Liga at just 17 years of age. Despite being a natural central midfielder, manager Javi Gracia plays him wide either on the left or right of a four-player midfield line.

Just over a week ago, Musah celebrated his first La Liga goal to open the scoring in a 2-2 draw against Getafe. Also, the American, who grew up in England, continued his run of good form playing 87 minutes of a 4-1 win over Real Madrid at home.

Given his form, the teenager was called up to join the USMNT for the first time in his short professional career and he accepted.

Gio Reyna – Borussia Dortmund

The Black and Yellows always put up a great fight against rivals FC Bayern but always seem to be edged out by the thinnest margin. History repeated itself last week when Dortmund lost 3-2 at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday.

Seventeen-year-old Gio Reyna played 69 minutes before being subbed out for attacking midfielder Thorgan Hazard. Despite losing Der Klassiker, Reyna will be looking forward to celebrating his 18th birthday – Friday, Nov. 13 – early after his USMNT debut on Thursday against Wales.

Christian Pulisic – Chelsea

Even after his injury and absence on Saturday, Christian Pulisic is in camp listed as day-to-day, according to Berhalter who spoke to Fox Sports on Sunday.

“Christian is in camp and is listed as day-to-day. It really says a lot about Christian that he wasn’t playing for Chelsea, but he wanted to come into this camp and be around the team and his status is day-to-day,” Berhalter said.

It is unclear whether he will be available to play against Wales on Thursday or Panama on Monday.

Weston McKennie – Juventus

Midfielder Weston McKennie recorded his first Serie A assist last weekend in a 4-1 win against Spezia Calcio but only played the last 37 minutes against Ferencvaros in UEFA Champions League action during the week and 13 minutes against Lazio in the weekend.

McKennie is one of the 13 Juve players who will represent their nations during the international break. The 22-year-old will play his 20th game wearing USA colors and will hope to add to his nine goal contributions – six goals, three assists.

Tyler Adams – RB Leipzig

Midfielder Tyler Adams returned from a slight injury to face PSG on Wednesday for about 15 minutes. On Saturday, the 21-year-old played the last eight minutes of Leipzig’s 3-0 win over Freiburg in the Bundesliga.

Like other young Americans playing in Europe, Adams is eager to see some familiar faces during November Camp.

Josh Sargent – Werder Bremen

Another week and another draw for Werder Bremen and USMNT forward Josh Sargent. Bremen drew against FC Koln on Friday, making it the fourth 1-1 draw in a row. The 20-year-old did not contribute to the goal unlike the previous weekend when he scored his first of the season.

Werder Bremen announced that Sargent will not be permitted to leave the club to join the USMNT in their game in Swansea against Wales on Thursday.

Sergiño Dest – Barcelona

Fort the first time since his arrival, Sergiño Dest did not feature in a La Liga game. Ronald Koeman decided it was time for a rest and did not miss the American much in the 5-2 win over Betis on Saturday. Also, Dest will need to prove his worth on the training ground before club play resumes after Sergi Roberto’s two assists and Jordi Alba’s assist last time out.

There is no doubt that Dest loves competing at the international level. He will have the chance to glow against Wales on Thursday.

Konrad de la Fuente – Barcelona

Like Dest, De la Fuente was kept on the bench as an unused substitute in the game against Real Betis on Saturday. He missed his Barcelona B game against FC Andorra, which ended in a 1-0 defeat.

De la Fuente will join Dest in Thursday’s friendly against Wales, hoping to make his debut.

Richard Ledezma – PSV Eindhoven

Twenty-year-old Richard Ledezma is another USMNT call-up who plays in the Netherlands’ second division. The center-attacking mid has two goals and an assist for PSV Eindhoven U-21. Given that, PSV Eindhoven decided to call up the American to the first team.

Ledezma made his first-team debut on Nov. 1 and dished out his first Eredivisie assist in the process. The Phoenix, Arizona, native even played seven minutes of Europa League action last week against PAOK Salonika. A lot is happening for the young American leading up to his possible USMNT debut.

Matt Miazga – RSC Anderlecht

At 25 years of age, Matt Miazga is looking to lead a team mostly made up of teenagers. The defender has been quality since he arrived at the Jupiler Pro League, helping Anderlecht to two wins and two draws. There is no question that Miazga will attempt to make the best out of this opportunity to lead as he is one of the six players with more than 17 caps.

Chris Richards – Bayern Munich

Center-back Chris Richards will finally make his long-awaited debut for the USMNT this week after his breakout year with European champions Bayern Munich. The center-back notched his first assists for the senior team in a 4-3 win over Hertha Berlin in October.

Antonee Robinson – Fulham

Left-back Antonee Robinson will look forward to his possible eighth appearance with the Stars and Stripes on Thursday. The 23-year-old is a starter at Fulham and has endured a harsh start of the season. However, he seems to be only of Scott Parker’s favorite picks.

Reggie Cannon – Boavista

Like Robinson, Reggie Cannon is in an ongoing relegation battle. Boavista has proven to be as inconsistent in Primer Liga as Fulham is in the Premier League. Two matchdays ago, the Portuguese side defeated then leaders Benfica but fell to bottom side Farense 3-1 on Sunday. Anyway, Cannon will come into camp in shape, game-ready and with experience.

Zach Steffen – Manchester City

Goalkeeper Zach Steffen has only played two EFL Cup games this season earning a clean sheet in one of them. Nonetheless, he comes in as one of the most experienced national team players with 17 appearances, eight wins and six shutouts.

Uly Llanez – Heerenveen

On Dec. 20, 2019, Forward Ulysses Llanez caught international attention when he scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Costa Rica in an exhibition match. The 19-year-old did not let COVID-19 put an end to his drive to reach further as he was loaned-out from Wolfsburg to Heerenveen and made his debut in October.

Tim Weah – Lille

It is now obvious that Tim Weah is in manager Christophe Galtier’s naughty list. The 20-year-old was loaned to Lille from PSG and has only seen 62 minutes of playing time in his five appearances for the club this season. Weah will do what he can to turn the table over with a successful international break.

Sebastian Soto – Telstar

Forward Sebastian Soto is tearing up the Keuken Kampioen Divisie – the Netherland’s second tier – with five goals in seven games with his temporary club Telstar. The 20-year-old from Carlsbad, California, averages a goal every 71 minutes and will be of good alternative for Berhalter now that Sargent will not be traveling to Wales. Soto is looking to make his USMNT debut and was an essential player at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2019.

Nicholas Gioacchini – Caen

Like Soto, forward Nicholas Gioacchini is leaving his mark in a second division league and is looking to earn his first USMNT cap. The 20-year-old scored three goals in eight matches with Ligue 2 side SM Caen.

Gioacchini heads into camp after scoring a game-winner against AS Nancy.

Owen Otasowie – Wolverhampton

Another New York City native, Owen Otasowie, will look to make his USMNT debut against Wales or Panama in the next week. The central midfielder was featured in Nuno Espiritu Santo’s first-team squad three times, but he is still looking for his Premier League debut. The 19-year-old usually plays for the U-23 Wolves side, but he has been called up to the pros lately.

Ethan Horvath – Club Brugge

Goalkeeper Ethan Horvath was the talk of the first week of UEFA Champions League action. The 25-year-old had the game of his life against Zenit St. Petersburg and was key in Club Brugge’s first Champions League win in over two years. He was not even supposed to start the game, but Simon Mignolet’s positive test for COVID-19 allowed the American to start after over a year without playing.

Chituru Odunze – Leicester City

Chituru Odunze is an 18-year-old goalkeeper who stands at six feet and seven inches tall. Since making his move from the Whitecaps to Leicester City, he only appeared in one U-18 Premier League game.
