The Black Stars will be looking to secure a third successive win in the qualifiers when they welcome the North Africans to town.

Match preview

Ghana's senior national team, the Black Stars, will go head to head with Sudan in their third AFCON qualifier of Group C. C.K Akonnor's men have been impressive in the campaign so far, as they approach the upcoming test with a 100 percent win record in the bag.

The four-time AFCON winners started off with a 2-0 win over South Africa before defeating Sao Tome and Principe 1-0 in the subsequent away fixture. Away from competitive football, Ghana finished off last month's international with a resounding 5-0 win over Qatar, having lost 3-0 to Mali in the previous outing.

Sudan, on the other hand, have enjoyed a parallel form to the Ghanaians. The Falcons currently sit third in the Group C standings after managing three points from their two appearances so far. They started off the qualifiers with an emphatic 4-0 win over Sao Tome and Principe before falling to a 1-0 defeat against South Africa.

Their overall form has also been problematic as they are yet to record a win in all competitions in exactly a year. So far, the last six outings have ended in three draws and three losses. With the Ghanaians brimming in confidence and being virtually three points away from a ninth straight Africa Cup of Nations, the Falcons will be required to bring their A game to stand a chance of potentially defying the bookies' prediction.

Head to head

Ghana and Sudan have met 11 times in the past. The Black Stars have won eight, drawn one and have lost twice. Five of the last six matches between the two teams have been won by the Ghanaians.

Team news

Ghana will face Sudan without the talismanic Thomas Partey in midfield. The former Atletico Madrid star did not join up with the rest of the squad after picking up a knock in Arsenal's 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa last weekend. In addition, Mubarak Wakaso, Jamie Leweling and Harrison Afful have all been ruled out of action .

For Sudan, there are no notable injury concerns with Coach Velud assembling a 25-man squad which comprises numerous local-based players.

Possible starting XI

Ghana: Richard Ofori; Benson Anang; John Boye; Joseph Aidoo; Baba Rahman; Afriyie Acquah; Alexander Djiku; Samuel Owusu; Andre Ayew; Tarique Fosu; Jordan Ayew.

Sudan: Ali Abdallah Abu-Eshrein; Atahir Eltahir; Amier Kamal Suliman; Hussein Ibrahim; Bakhit Khamis; Nasr Omar; Dhiya Mahjoub Musa; Walid Aladdin; Mohamed Mokhtar; Ahmed Hamid Al-Tash; Ramadan Agab.
