The Video Assistant Referee was at the center of another frantic affair in the Portuguese Primeira Liga with Benfica benefiting from a very crucial call to keep their unbeaten run intact. A goal by Rafa was enough to propel the Eagles to securing all the three points against their rivals who ended the night with only nine out-field players.
Friday night's O Clássico began with Porto being three points behind the Benfica and a win would have seen them go level with their rivals after 10 matches. However, they were dealt a blow in their mission for the night with Stephen Eustanquio getting sent off inside the 27th minute.

Porto are down to 10 men and they can't have many complaints about this one...

The hosts were still able to hold their own and match the Eagles with a man less, even coming close to securing a goal at a point. But they could only do so much as, in the end, it was Rafa's composed strike in the 73rd minute which decided the game. The goal was deemed to have been offside by the match referee but a subsequent review by VAR confirmed its legitimacy. Watch:
