The Red Devils have reportedly frozen out the Portuguese superstar and are not expecting him to return.

Manchester United have asked Cristiano Ronaldo not to return to the club after the World Cup, a new report from England has revealed. The Red Devils have apparently instructed the Portuguese superstar not to show up at their training base after allegedly breaching the term of his contract with his recent comments about the club.

Ronaldo has dominated headlines in recent time following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan on the Talk TV. In his submissions, the 37-year-old forward did not hold back in his criticism of the club, citing the lack of ambition and a supposed agenda by senior executives to force him out of the club. The former Juventus and Real Madrid star also hit out at the Glazer family and manager Erik ten Hag.

Since then, Manchester United have issued a couple of statements addressing the subject. The most recent one released on Friday morning reads as follows: "Manchester United has this morning initiated appropriate steps in response to Cristiano Ronaldo's recent media interview. We will not be making further comment until this process reaches its conclusion."

According to the Guardian in the UK, United have seemingly made the decision to part ways with Ronaldo. The club has reportedly appointed lawyers to look into the possibility of taking legal action against the player for an alleged breach of contract as he sought to engineer a move away.

Per the report, the Premier League club are hoping that that their threat of legal action may cause Ronaldo to offer to annul his contract. Needless to say the player is expected to secure a move away in the coming months and is not expected to Old Trafford after his spell at the World Cup with Portugal.
