The Red Devils look to secure their ticket to the round of 16 but their first priority will be to improve on their disappointing performance vs. Canada.

The action resumes in Group F of the 2022 FIFA World Cup this Sunday as Belgium prepare for another tricky fixture. After their opening game victory over Canada, the European giants will now have to face Morocco at the Al-Thumama Stadium at 8 a.m. ET knowing how important a win could be.

Not every giant of the beautiful game kicked off their campaign with a win. The likes of Argentina and Germany suffered shocking defeats in the first round of matches. However, Belgium commenced their tournament with a crucial victory and have a healty two-point lead at the top.

Despite this, the Red Devils cannot get carried away. A win on Sunday should be enough to seal their round of 16 ticket but the European giants must first focus on improving their game after their poor performance against Canada.

While the three points went to Roberto Martinez's side, it was the North Americans that dominated the 90 minutes. Profligacy in front of the goal and the heroics of Thibaut Courtois, who saved an early penalty from Alphonso Davies, are the reasons for Wednesday's triumph.

Speaking after the match, Kevin de Bruyne, who was named Man of the Match, admitted that both he and his team struggled to perform, even going as far as questioning why he was chosen as the game's standout player.

Nonetheless, the fact that FIFA's second-highest ranked nation blitzed past everyone during the qualifiers proves that they are a capable side. Martinez has several talented players, albeit aging, at his disposal such as De Bruyne, Hazard, Courtois, and Lukaku — the Inter Milan striker missed the opener through injury.

This will be the final World Cup for Belgium's golden generation, meaning it is now or never for the UEFA heavyweights. Expect the Red Devils to go all out in order to secure progression with a spare game.

Morocco, on the other hand, only managed to pick up a single point in their opening game. As a result, the objective for the North African side will be to pull off a crucial victory over Belgium or risk suffering an early exit.

The Atlas Lions kicked off their campaign against the 2018 FIFA World Cup runners-up Croatia and despite Modric and Co. being the favorites in this group, alongside Belgium, Morocco held their own against the European outfit.

This was a positive given their recent record in the FIFA World Cup, qualifying once in the last five tournaments. Nonetheless, against the Red Devils, Walid Regragui's will be in for a tough test.

The 47-year-old took over the national team after their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations elimination, replacing Vahid Halilhodzic who had fallouts with the likes of Ziyech and Mazraoui. Morocco heavily rely on pragmatism and will thus look to frustrate De Bruyne and Co. on Sunday.

Team news

Belgium: Romelu Lukaku is unlikely to be fit in time for this game, meaning Batshuayi should remain in the lineup. Thomas Meunier and Amadou Onana are two men hoping to break into the starting eleven for this tie while Brighton's Trossard will also be keen on some minutes after making a cameo against Canada.

Morocco: Sofyan Amrabat carries a yellow card from the previous game but the crucial midfielder is unlikely to be rested due to the importance of this tie. Meanwhile, Noussair Mazraoui, who suffered a knock in that draw with Croatia, did not suffer a serious injury and could be in contention for this fixture. This means the Bayern Munich full-back could partner PSG ace Achraf Hakimi and if not, Yahia Attiyat-Allah should deputize.
