Morocco vs. Portugal kicked off day two of the 2022 FIFA World Cup quarterfinals!
The Atlas Lions took to the field in Saturday's early fixture, battling the Euro 2016 champions for a spot in the Qatar 2022 semifinals. While the odds did not favor the North African side, they entered this clash with confidence after their historic round of 16 victory over Spain.
And it showed on the pitch. Walid Regragui's men thwarted a number of threatening Portugal attacks and got into dangerous positions themselves. Come the 42nd minute, Morocco reaped their award.
Youssef En-Nesyri handed the Atlas Lions a remarkable lead after the Arab nation built out from the back brilliantly. The Sevilla striker towered over everyone to head the ball into the back of the net, with A Seleção goalkeeper Diogo Costa making an error for this goal.
